First train trip. Excellent!! The seats were comfy and spacious. Some had tables and the one near us had a family there enjoying dinner then a game of cards. Announcements were in French, then English which was helpful along with the display that showed the next stop. Car attendants were kind and helpful. It was a smooth travel and a great experience. The bathroom is amazing.

I needed assistance and couldnt find online where to arrange it. I got to Union station 2 hours early to get a wheelchair. The reception people were very nice but I sat waiting for a wheelchair for over 45 minutes and I was getting concerned I would miss the train. Then one reception person walked me with my crutches down the ramp because there was no wheelchair available which was very diffificult for me. When we got to the bottom, there was no where to sit, we had to ask people to get up. Then she left me there saying another person would come and get me. I started to get very nervous I was going to miss the train. Finally someone showed up 5 min before boarding. She confirmed that is not easy to find online where to get the wheelchair. Then I got to the train and people helped me on. The train ride itself unfortunately for me was so bumpy, I thought I would be on a new train. I have a spinal issue and I was in so much pain and took medication. Then the train was delayed but only 10-15 minutes. Also I wanted yogurt or a bagel and these were not available in the evening even though they were on the menu. I had to figure out how to take my medication. An hour before arrival in Dorval I was trying to find someone to make sure they could help with my bags. I couldn't find anyone. I finally asked one of the passengers to help me. Finally we stopped at Dorval and someone showed up to help me off the train and carry my bags to the taxi. I have always loved the train ride but this time it was unpleasant and a real challenege. The old train left me with severe pain for 2 days. I love Via Rail, I have even taken the train from Vancouver to Halifax. But I guess I cannot manage the bumping of the car and could not find out how to schedule my trip on the new train or find a way to arrange a wheelchair. I go from Montreal to Toronto a few times a year.
